American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure

The Tour de Cure is a series of fund-raising cycling events held in 40 states nationwide to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Last year, more than 32,000 cyclists in 78 Tour events raised nearly $13 million to support the mission of the ADA: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

The years I have participated, I have biked 40 miles, 62.5 miles (twice) and 100 miles. I participate in this event because I have friends and family who have diabetes and this event is very well organized (even though every year it rains)

In order to participate you have to pay a $25 registration fee and collect donations starting at $5 totaling a minimum of $150. In previous years thanks to the contribution of friends and family I have been able to collect up to $340. This year besides convincing my wife Sughey to bike 40 miles (I will be biking 62.5 miles) we want to collect $500 each of us for the event. In Rochester the event is held at Mendon Ponds Park on June 8th. Make sure you keep reading as I am sure will post on our training rides and the event itself.

If you want to donate to the American Diabetes association, you can go to Sughey’s page or mine. It is very easy to do, you just need your credit card, you can get tax deductions from this donations and the minimum is $5.

Is there a cause that you normally donate to? Let me kow in the comment section and I will try to find ways to help you with your cause.a
